Blueberry Mojito
Blueberry Mojito
A refreshing blueberry mojito made with muddled blueberries, fresh mint, lime juice, rum, and a splash of soda. A fruity twist on the classic cocktail!
Prep Time 10 minutes mins
Total Time 10 minutes mins
- 2 oz white rum
- 1 cup fresh blueberries
- 8-10 fresh mint leaves
- 1 oz fresh lime juice
- 1 oz simple syrup
- Club soda
- Ice cubes
- Extra blueberries and mint sprigs for garnish
Take about 3/4 cup of fresh blueberries and drop them into a sturdy highball glass. Give them a gentle press with your muddler – you want to break them up just enough to release their juice, but not completely crush them into a pulp. You’ll know you’ve done enough when you see the deep purple juice starting to pool at the bottom.
Add mint leaves and very gently muddle them with the blueberries. You just want to press enough to release the oils – if you muddle mint too aggressively, it’ll turn bitter. You’ll smell that wonderful fresh mint aroma when you’ve done enough.
Pour in the simple syrup and fresh lime juice. Give everything a quick stir to combine – this helps distribute all those lovely blueberry and mint flavors before adding the alcohol.
Add the rum and fill the glass about 2/3 full with ice cubes. Using a long spoon, stir everything together for about 15-20 seconds to properly chill the drink and combine all the flavors.
Top off with club soda until the glass is nearly full – usually about 2-3 oz depending on your glass size. Give it one final gentle stir to combine.
For garnish, drop in a few fresh blueberries (they’ll bob around nicely in the drink) and add a sprig of mint. Give the mint a little clap between your palms first – this releases those aromatic oils so you get that fresh mint smell with every sip.
